Werk in opdracht.
Wie gaat er nu nog dia's projecteren tegenwoordig, maar zomaar al dat beeldmateriaal weggooien zou betekenen dat er een familiegeschiedenis verloren gaat en dat is natuurlijk eeuwig zonde.
Toen mijn ouders hun zolder opruimden en mij zo'n 10 diadozen overhandigden heb ik de meest bijzondere beelden uitgekozen om er kleine aquarellen van te maken die ik vervolgens gedigitaliseerd heb en gebundeld in een boekje.
Het boekje bleek het ideale kado om de 75e verjaardag van mijn moeder mee op te luisteren en was zo'n schot in de roos dat ik iets dergelijks ook voor derden zou willen doen.
Het voorbeeld betreft een hard-cover boekje van 24 pagina's van formaat 20 x 20 cm in een oplage van 1, met een geschreven opdracht en potloodtekeningen met aquarel en gouache.
Uiteraard zijn er in een opdrachtsituatie allerlei varianten mogelijk, bijvoorbeeld meerdere exemplaren van het boekje, of alleen een aquarel, of juist meerdere aquarellen als een reeks kunstwerkjes die samen het verhaal vertellen van een persoonlijke geschiedenis.
Alles kan, in onderling overleg en afstemming van het beschikbare budget.

Commission work
A special gift. What to give at an anniversary, a wedding, or another special party? What to give to someone who has everything? And what to do with all those file cabinets full of old slides and photographs of vacations, birthday parties and family outings?
Who would still project slides nowadays, but just throw away all that footage would mean that a family history is lost and that would be a shame.
When my parents cleaned their attic they handed me around 10 boxes full of slides. I selected the most extraordinary images to create small watercolors which I then digitized and bundled in a booklet.
The book turned out to be the ideal gift to the 75th birthday of my mother and was such a hit that I would like to do something similar also for third parties.
The example concerns a hard-cover booklet of 24 pages of format 20 x 20 cm in an edition of 1, with a written order and pencil drawings with watercolour. Obviously there are multiple variations possible in a commission situation, for example, multiple copies of the booklet, or only a watercolor, or multiple watercolors as a series of art which together tell the story of a personal history.
Everything is possible, in mutual consultation and coordination of the available budget.
